On June 8, The 4th mangrove planting event was conducted in recognition and celebration of the school on the newly found partnership between PTT Philippines. It is one of the wholly owned subsidiary companies of Thailand’s largest oil and gas company .”
The said event was conducted on the area of San Rafael IV, Noveleta. It was organized by Mr. Jonathan Velustria Sta. Ana ,Director of DSAS (Department of Student Affairs and Services).
One of the notable participants in the mangrove planting were Keith John Zedrick Rodriguez, the President of the organization of ADC (Association of Dominican Communicators) along with the CCSC (Central College Student Council ) ,Mr. and Ms. SDCA 2016 ,Gateway group of Publications members and the other roughly thousand attendees of the affair.
It was followed afterwards by the significant highlight which was the signing of partnership between SDCA and PTT Company then the occasion closed with the successful forged of partnership and a solemn prayer.

On June fifth, St. Dominic College of Asia held its opening ceremony for their Japanese Language Program at the Studio Theater, Fifth floor. It is the second time for the institution, to offer Japanese language classes. The program is a product of the partnership between St. Dominic College of Asia and the JP Talks Inc. with the leadership of Mr. Hitoshi Kato.
The orientation ended with a closing remark by Dean Roa and a campus tour for the foreign visitors.

St. Dominic College of Asia aims to hone the leadership skills of its students. Through academic and non-academic organizations, students are able to create, plan, communicate, and execute projects that help betterment the life of its members and the community. To keep track of their accomplished plans, SDCA annually conduct Accomplishment Report Presentations per organizations. This is where the organizations are given time to present their accomplishments for a duration of one year, to the panelists. Whereas, the student leaders aren’t only evaluated, but they are also given suggestions to improve and motivate their work, for their future projects.
On the Monday morning of May 22 , the representatives from different organizations of St. Dominic College of Asia both academic and non–academic, has gathered in the AVR, Dominga Andaman Hall for the presentation of their accomplishment and community service report for the two semesters of the school year 2016-2017.
Each organization representatives comprises the President and the Vice President that presented before the panelists.
After each presentation, the panelists voiced out there comments, questions and suggestions to them. Then based from their accomplishments, the panelists chose the top 5 organization with the best presentation and achievements. According to Mr. Jonathan Velustria Sta. Ana, this year is the start of giving out awards for the most active organizations.
The top 5 organizations will be announced and awarded on the Pasalubong ceremony (a welcoming ceremony for the freshmen), during the oath taking of the new set of officers on August 1.

Teachers are one of the major influencers of a child’s belief and character. They have the power to educate and transform young minds through their teachings. What they imply to a student can make a big impact to its life. Therefore, it’s important to have a teacher with a strong foundation of skills and character at hand.
To constantly serve its students with holistic education, St. Dominic College of Asia conducted a Personality Development Seminar on May 19 in the AVR, Dominga Andaman Hall, for the benefit of the Basic Education teachers.
The main goal was to enrich them and inspire the fresh graduates who attended the said seminar.
Ms. Eunilene S. Pragides, a Filipino teacher from SDCA Basic Education Department, hosted the event. It was facilitated by Ms. Teresita Pedrajas, Psychology Professor of the School of Arts and Sciences and Education (SASE) Department. She discussed the four pillars of development and strategies of becoming a more professional teacher in the field and shared her insights and learnings as a teacher in psychology.
Aside from the discussion part, there were also activities consisted of group discussions, role playing, broadcasting and brainstorming. There, the teachers were able to refresh and learn new strategies that they can use in their teaching load this coming June.
The event ended with an awarding of certificates to the speaker and the attendees and a prayer.

St. Dominic College of Asia in collaboration with Cerebro Cavite Inc., hosted a one day seminar –workshop on Campus Journalism in the AVR, Dona Dominga hall, on May 13.
In line with its goal in expanding the knowledge and giving importance to Campus Journalism, St. Dominic College of Asia reached out to Cerebro Cavite Inc. to host the said event.
Cerebro Cavite is a corporation under the Securities and Exchange Commission that provides education-related programs to a wide range clientele to fulfill its primary purpose of “conducting and facilitating seminars, lectures and other training sessions for personal and professional growth”.
Students, aspiring journalists, and representatives from different schools and Universities converged together to learn from the reporters; Mr. James Konstantin Galvez (The Manila Times) and Ms. Charina Clarisse Echaluse (Manila Bulletin).

St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA), in collaboration with the SDCA Community Outreach and Extension Officer, Prof. Ronald C. Tomines, were forging new partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), along with the Y-PEER (a youth network, supported by UNICEF), at the SDCA AVR, last May 11.
Present at the said event were the UNICEF HIV representatives Mx. Mar Banibago and Ms. Anshaira Lopez, Mr. Carl Angelo Ortiz (Y-PEER representative), Heads of SDCA, Dr. Gregorio Andaman (Chairman of the school), Dr. Marita Andaman-Rillo (Chairman of the Board of Trustees), Deans, and more than 11 faculty members from different departments.
To open the meeting, Ms. Ianne Lopez (Vice President of the Community Outreach of Central College Student Council) talked about the background activities of SDCA in line with HIV/AIDS awareness.
It was followed by Mx. Mar Banibago (The UNICEF HIV Program Officer), where he discussed the objectives and mission of UNICEF, and its offered programs to SDCA once the contract is furnished, which they will process on the next meeting.
The benefits to the said partnership are trainings and counseling from the latter, to two appointed faculty members of SDCA, which will benefit the faculty members and medical students of the school. They will also give out reading materials for the Basic Education Department.
Ms. Anshaira Lopez (UNICEF MEMBER) and Mr. Carl Angelo Ortiz (Y-PEER representative), shared some of their experiences of being a member of their organizations and how it had helped them to be a well rounded person with regards to teaching and enlightening minds of the youth.
UNICEF is an agency of the United Nations devoted to serving the world's children. Throughout the years, they have partnered with different organizations with the same advocacy, including the Y-PEER organization. It’s a network of more than 500 non-profit organizations and governmental institutions who work in the many areas surrounding adolescent sexual and reproductive health.

Do you want to learn how to dance hip hop? Play some sports like basketball?
St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) in coordination with the Student Program and Activities, offers Sports for Life 2017, a summer workshop for Basketball, Futsal, Volleyball, Badminton, Taekwondo, and Hip-Hop (dance).
Last May 8, participants from SDCA and other schools showcased the results of their eight days session of summer camp in BASKETBALL and HIP HOP.
The Basketball workshop involved 16 participants and was facilitated by Mr. Jerrick Mopia (The Official Coach of Dominican Pikemen) with the help of varsity players of SDCA at the SDCA Gym.On their last activity, the participants were divided into two teams and had a friendly game with each other.
Ms. Frances Moral (SDCA Alumni and Former DDC President) along with the Dominican Dance Company (DDC) mentored the participants of the HIP HOP summer workshop, at the SDCA Studio Theater.The recitalist had performed two dance numbers with their instructors in front of their parents.
After the partakers showcased their skills on summer workshop programs, they were given a certificate of participation.
At the third year of the program, Institutional Student Program and Activities Director, Mrs. Josefa Dimalanta, added a new category to the program, the HIP HOP (Dance). According to her,“Dance and Sports is for the development of the child. They learned how to face disappointment, what is right and wrong with their moral values and the children learned how to socialize despite that they come from different schools”.

Behind every student’s success, there are parents who are supporting them. Students are well aware of the hardships of each and every parent that are enduring and sacrificing in order to support them in their studies.
To show gratitude and give back to the parents, the School of International Hospitality & Tourism Management (SIHTM) held an event named, “Classical Epitome”,a food & beverage service procedure and culminating activity, last May 2.
The said event was a toast to the parents who are working hard to provide their children’s needs. The goal was not just to honor them, but also to allow the students to showcase their skills and learning in the event.
Aside from the parents, faculty members and VIP’s coming from other schools were also invited. The estimated attendees of the event were 50–70.
It took two weeks and a half in preparation, which indeed hada dazzling result.From the serenading song, to the magnificent table setting embellished with flowers, to the food serving, contributed to the success of the event.
The program started with an exceptional performance number, followed by an opening remark by the School of Arts, Sciences and Education (SASE) faculty member professor, Ms. Monina Mallorca, to officially start the night. Throughout the event, the parents were entertained by different musical performances and video presentations of the achievements of outstanding students and faculty members of the department of SITHM.
It was a fun and memorable event indeed. The night ended by giving out tokens to parents as a sign of appreciation to all their hard works and sacrifices for their children. The goal to make the parents feel appreciated and showcase the skills of the SHITM students was achieved.
