St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) was chosen to host Cosflair: Flairbartending Competition 2019 last March 21, at the 8th Floor, Don Gregorio Hall / Gymnasium.
In partnership with Tanduay, SDCA hosted Cosflair: Flairbartending Competition 2019, a contest that combines flair bartending with cosplay. The event was organized by the officers of the Alliance of Future Dominican Hoteliers, the academic organization of the Hospitality Management students of SDCA, together with the Bar Management class of Hospitality Management 3-A. Several students from different schools such as Asia Technological School of Science and Arts (ASIATECH), Arellano University – Pasig, Colegio De Sta. Teresa De Avila, Dr. Yanga’s Colleges Inc., Far Eastern University – Manila, La Concepcion College, Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Sta. Mesa, San Pedro Technological Institute and Our Lady of Lourdes College participated in the competition.
Roy Angelo M. Manila of ASIATECH was declared as the Champion, followed by Dannah Jean Placio Olivar from Colegio de Sta. Teresa de Avila, who was the 1st Runner-Up, and SDCA’s very own Dean Michael B. Bañes was the 2nd Runner-Up.
According to Ms. Irene M. Moreno, the President of the Alliance of Future Dominican Hoteliers, the objective of Cosflair is to exhibit and develop the talent and knowledge of the students in flair bartending and mixology by exposing their skills.
SDCA organized a literacy project entitled “Green IT” and “Social Media Awareness” which aim to teach parents from Talaba II, last March 18.
The members of Association of Computer Talents and Specialists (ACTS), the academic organization for the Information Technology students of St. Dominic College of Asia, facilitated the“Green IT,” that tackled the proper ways to recycle different computer parts and peripherals into something that can be domestically used. The event was attended by the parents of the Bacoor Alliance of Pinagbuklod – Kindergarten School students.
During the second part of the seminar, Mr. Joezer Haggai P. Macauyam, the Digital Learning Content Management Specialist of St. Dominic College of Asia, together with the Online Distance Learning Staff/ Web Management and Digital Citizenship Specialist of SDCA, Mr. Rueben G. Marollano, discussed about one’s responsible social media presence.
Towards the end of the program, Prof. Ronald Tomines, the Community Extension Services Officer of St. Dominic College of Asia, gave the closing remarks to formally conclude the activity.
“ARTreach Project” is an outreach program conducted by the Multimedia Arts students of St. Dominic College of Asia that aims to teach fundamentals of arts to the children of Bacoor Alliance of Pinagbuklod – Kindergarten School, Talaba II, City of Bacoor, Cavite, last March 15.
Along with the parents and teachers from Talaba II, the Multimedia Arts students from SDCA taught 37 Kindergarten students about basic line drawing and landscape drawing.
According to Mr. Laudimer Hingada, a Multimedia Arts Instructor from SDCA, the main objective of the program is to teach children about the basic fundamentals of arts because he and his students believe that every child is an artist.
SDCA held the Accountalino: The Ultra Bookkeeping Quiz Bee at the Dominican Learning Resource Center, last March 12.
As part of their first-ever Accountancy Week, the students from BS Accountancy (Dominican Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants) organized the Accountalino: The Ultra Bookkeeping Quiz Bee, a Quiz Bee open to all Senior High School Grade 11 and Grade 12 students and was participated by the students from City of Bacoor Senior High School – Dulong Bayan (CBsHS) and St. Francis Academy Parañaque Inc.
Jennie Boy Salabao from City of Bacoor Senior High School – Dulong Bayan was hailed as the Champion while his schoolmate Katelyn Louie Sabado was declared as the 1st Runner Up and Eunice M. Hallasgo from St. Francis Academy Parañaque Inc. was the 2nd Runner Up.
St. Dominic College of Asia welcomed the key officials from Benue State University – Nigeria last March 18, at the 3rd Floor, Discussion Room.
Dr. Noel Sergio, the Dean of the School of Business and Computer Studies and School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management, spearheaded the event which was part of the training for the BSU – Nigeria’s International Day for Administrative Support and Interactive Tour and it was attended by the officials from BSU – Nigeria that belongs to the lower and middle management.
As required by their Memorandum of Agreement, the two organizations must share their expertise with one another. Thus, two of the faculty members from SBCS that were chosen by Dean Sergio imparted their knowledge about their skills and how it can be developed. Since the program is also part of BSU – Nigeria officials’ training for enrichment and skills development, Prof. Gerald Ocan, a Business Management Professor, discussed the principles and theories of management and was followed by Prof. Andie Tombucon, an Information Technology Professor, who talked about the importance of project management.
According to Dean Sergio, the event allowed the SDCA and BSU – Nigeria officials to interact and collaborate with each other and this kind of activity gives further meaning to their partnership.
Students from the School of International, Hospitality, and Tourism Management (SIHTM) once again brought achievements during the 13th UFTE National Tourism Skills Olympics, last February 28 and March 1 at Trinity University of Asia.
Dean Michael B. Bañes and Ric Gabriel Dalena got the 4th Place in the Flairtending Competition, while Patricia Parsacala, Beverly Madjos, Joana-ann Perea and Micah Ella Felizardo won 6th Place in the Domestic Tour Package Proposal.
The competition was participated by the different colleges and universities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
