St. Dominic College of Asia will be holding Distance Learning mode through the Home-Based Learning (HBL) program, for Academic Year 2020-2021, to ensure the welfare and safety of our students.


Online classes will be done in face-to-face and offline mode, considering the age and readiness of the student. This is made possible through our appropriate Learning Management Systems (LMS) for online content, student records, and communication. Pre-schoolers and elementary learners will use GENYO for their LMS and junior high schoolers will use QUIPPER. It will be further enriched by teacher-created and curated content. Through this, students may download and work on their activities offline.


Through QUIPPER and GENYO, students can:

  • • Have access to digital textbooks, anytime and anywhere,
  • • Access digital lessons assigned to them by their teachers which they can also review offline,
  • • Better monitor their progress in exams through automated assessment tools,
  • • Collaborate with their teachers and peers through Announcement Board, Forum, Blog, and Messages.
  • • Explore the world from their desks and experience fun learning through Gamification Mode.
  • • Have freedom to learn at their own pace!

As part of our advocacy for a Dominican holistic education and approach, the school will continue nurturing each student's psycho-emotional health through our Wellness program. This includes holding online retreats and webinars. SDCA will also continue to hold Activity Program (contests and competitions) through digital platforms. Activity days will be held on selected Fridays all done online.


To continue the strong home-school partnership, SDCA will provide orientation, training, and support to our parents and guardians especially on this new normal. The school will also initiate Parent Support Hotline to listen to concerns and feedbacks. Being PEAC certified, Dominican students who are ESC recipient may still be reduced with P9,000 on their fees.


This may be a challenging academic year ahead of us, but SDCA is ready to take the challenge. Teachers are properly trained in the use of technology for effective learning, using the Most Essential Learning Competencies. Activities are well thought out and goes beyond mere busywork, focusing on the 21st Century Skills of critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication.

As we take on a new chapter caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Dominic College of Asia is challenged to go beyond the ordinary. The management had several meetings to discuss how SDCA can deliver more than what is expected while providing quality and revolutionized education.


SDCA, being a dynamic and proactive institution, has seen an opportunity to go beyond borders by offering new methods in teaching and breaking the barriers. It also enables face-to-face online learning anytime and anywhere, with any computer and mobile devices.


SDCA has been on top of the game in digital transformation in Cavite province, and we continue to innovate new systems that are useful for our stakeholders.


SDCA instructors were trained with our Learning Management Systems to ensure that students get the best quality education.


As we press on digital learning, we now open our doors for Filipinos and foreign students residing abroad. SDCA will now open schedules dedicated to international classes with the help of our industry-seasoned faculty.

Senior High School Recognition

The Senior High School students will have their recognition ceremony on May 29, 2018 (Tuesday), at the Main Square Mall, from 11:00AM-8:00PM. This activity aims to recognize the efforts and outstanding accomplishments of our students for Academic Year 2017-2018.

In line with the upcoming Higher Education commencement exercises, the higher education students will have their Baccalaureate Mass and Recognition on June 11, 2018 (Monday), at the Main Square Mall, Activity Center, from 11:00AM-8:00PM.


St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) got high passing rate in the March 2018 board examination, results were released by Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

MedTech

SDCA posted a higher passing rate in the March 2018 licensure examinations for BS Medical Technology. The exam was conducted last March 14 & 15. SDCA’s passing rate rose to 92.86% from 62.50% from last August 2017 boards. Moreover, first time takers garnered a 100% passing rate. 2,648 out of 3,644 made the cut in March 2018 MedTech licensure exam.

Pharmacy

SDCA’s passing rate improved to 72.22% or 13 out of 18 examinees. The exam was conducted last March 7 & 8. First time takers further impressed with a passing rate of 61.54% with eight Dominicans passing on their first-try. The national passing pegged at 55.77% with 1,695 passers out of 3,039 examinees. The Gateway Group of Publications (TG) members won different awards in both Cavitewide Higher Education Press Conference (CHEPC) and Regional (CaLaBaRZon) Higer Education Press Conference (RHEPC)

CHEPC

St. Dominic College of Asia hosted the 10th CHEPC last January 13. The Gateway student journalists participated and won 23 awards in their respective categories

In fifth place, Angelica Carulla awarded in Editorial Writing – Filipino, Christian Mendoza got the Column Writing – Filipino and Maria Czarhina Ann Casado in Poetry Writing.

While, Arbie Joy Talam (DevComm Writing – Filipino), Samantha Leigh Ocampo (Editorial Writing English), Gemelyn Cruz (Comic Strip Drawing – English), Mary Donna Vel Rubio (Literary Graphics – English) and Junichi Ishikawa (Editorial Cartooning – English) landed in fourth place.

This year third placers were Angelica Carulla in Sports Writing – English, Christian Mendoza in Feature Writing – Filipino, Elgien Padohinog in DevComm Writing – English, Maria Czarhina Ann Casado in Feature Writing – English, Paolo Limosnero in Column Writing – English, Mary Donna Vel Rubio in Comic Strip Drawing - Filipino and Fatima Dollaga in Literary Graphics – Filipino.

In second place, Arbie Joy Talam awarded in News Writing – English, Elgien Padohinog in Copyreading and Headline Writing – English, Ana Liza Magnata in Sports Writing – Filipino, Gabriel Obado and Jericho for Photojournalism, and Fatima Dollaga in Editorial Cartooning – Filipino.

Lastly, Angelica Carulla (Copyreading and headline Writing – Filipino), Samantha Leigh Ocampo (Page Layout), Ana Liza Magnata (News Writing – Filipino) and Paolo Limosnero (Poetry Writing – Filipino) hailed as champions.

RHEPC

Regional confab was held at Batis Aramin, Lucban, Quezon, January 16-18 wherein TG bagged awards in both group and individual contests.

Pikemen Futsal kicks ISAA Championship


St. Dominic College of Asia’s (SDCA) Dominican Pikemen brings home the title on the 9th Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association (ISAA) Futsal championship at SDCA Skyline Gymnasium, February 28.

Pikemen defeated Philippine Air Transport and Training Services (PATTS) Sea Horses, Far East Air Transport Incorporated (FEATI) Seahawks, and Manila Tytana Colleges (TYTANA) Titans on the elimination rounds but was overpowered by Manila Adventist College (MAC) Soaring Angels on the second stage due to lack of ball possessions.

During the semi-finals, SDCA secured a spot with two points against MAC with one point.

Pikemen drew with Sea Horses, 5-5 at the championship game. In order to win for the championship, Emmanuel Nwunzuzu, who was inside the penalty box, recovered the ball and scored a goal which earned the top spot for the team.

Team captain Samuel Egbita scored eight goals, followed by Aondohemba Alex Igbawua at six, Aonddowase Felix Kachia and Mbayev Nathan Fater at five, and Nwunzuzu at four. While best goalkeeper was awarded to Joseph Anchanya.

YES Leads Business Expo 2018

Young Executive Society (YES) launched its 2nd Business Expo-Losion with the theme, “Rise of the Business Millennials” with their guest speaker, Ms. Camill Villar held at 10th floor, Multi-purpose Hall, March 20.

The business expo was participated by the School of Business and Computer Studies (SBCS) and different Senior High School (SHS) students around Cavite area. The activity aims to tackle the importance of business to the youth and to hone their skills in research and product development.

Ms. Camille Villar, who has an outstanding background in business, tackled about how business affects the mind of the students in having their own income generating products or services.

Alongside with the seminar, the members of the Junior Achievement Philippines Inc. (JAPI), a non-sectarian organization of students taking BS Business Administration, and the 4th year Business Administration students was able to showcase their products which was developed through their feasibility studies. With a proud heart, the students presented their products well to Ms. Villar.

The event was spearheaded by YES organization officers, the official academic organization of Business Administration at St. Dominic College of Asia.
