The SDCA Bachelor of Science in Nursing students achieved a remarkable victory during the Battle of the Nightingales NCR 2024, held on September 19 at the GT Toyota Asian Center, UP Diliman. This quiz bee competition gathered nursing students from 16 universities and colleges across the region, providing an exceptional platform to showcase their nursing knowledge and skills.

The champion team consisted of three outstanding students: Ms. Zarina Guiban, Ms. Clymene Joise Espiritu, and Mr. Van Clint Vestido. Under the dedicated guidance of their adviser, Prof. Joel Fille, the team demonstrated exceptional teamwork and intelligence, impressing both judges and spectators alike. Their commitment to excellence not only highlights their individual talents but also reflects their diligent training.

Hosted by Metro Pacific Health, the Battle of the Nightingales aimed to spotlight future healthcare providers, emphasizing the importance of nursing in today’s healthcare landscape.

SDCA, AN AUTONOMOUS HEI - CHED

St. Dominic College of Asia was granted Autonomous Status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) among the 77 Private Higher Education Institutions around the Philippines, one of the 3 in Cavite. The grant was formalized under Memorandum Order 7, series of 2024, and signed by Chairman Prospero de Vera III dated September 16, 2024.

This grant is effective from September 16, 2024, to September 15, 2027, in accordance with Republic Act No. 7722, also known as the "Higher Education Act of 1994.” With this autonomy, SDCA gains numerous benefits and responsibilities, including the authority to expand and innovate course programs that reflect the interests and needs of its students, thereby enhancing the overall educational experience in undergraduate, master’s, and doctorate programs, demonstrating its capability to operate independently while adhering to the standards set by CHED.

This prestigious CHED recognition is achieved by an institution of higher learning when it receives excellent rankings in CHED’s requirements of: Commitment to Program Excellence, Excellence in Instruction, Scholarly works, and Community Engagements, and Institutional Quality and Excellence.

This highlights SDCA’s evolution as an educational institution in just 20 years since its establishment.
SDCA achieved an impressive passing rate of 83.33% (first-time takers) in the recently concluded Medical Technology Licensure Examination last August 2024 against the national passing rate of 69.47%

SDCA PRODUCES NEW PSYCHOMETRICIANS

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Psychology released the results of the August 2024 Board Licensure Examination for Psychometricians (BLEPP) on August 19, 2024.

The Psychometrician Licensure Examination was held on August 11-12, 2024, at PRC testing centers in NCR, Baguio, Cebu, and Davao. These Dominican alumni are among the 7,478 successful examinees out of 10,717 who took the August 2024 BLEPP.
