St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) continues to achieve global distinction after earning back-to-back Rank #1 awards in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), reinforcing its strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, and academic excellence.
In 2025, SDCA ranked #1 in SDG-Based Responses to Global Challenges among 4,866 global entries through the project "Tubig (Water) is Life", led by Dr. Joel G. Matamis, Dean of the School of Medical Laboratory Sciences. In 2026, the institution secured another Rank #1 recognition in the University-Based Entrepreneurial Projects category among 13,211 entries through "Sea Veil", led by Dr. Wendell L. Galapate, Director for Research Innovation and Development Enterprise.
Adding to these milestones, both academic leaders represented SDCA at the Hanseatic League of Universities (HLU) Annual Conference and WURI Global Rankings Ceremony 2026 in Taiwan (May 6-8, 2026), where they presented their respective research innovations: "HydroFilta: Coconut HuskBanana Peel Water Filter" by Dr. Matamis and "Upcycling Fruit and Vegetable Peels into High-Value Food Products" by Dr. Galapate.
