St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) formally received its No. 1 World Ranking recognition in the C7 University-Based Entrepreneurial Projects category of the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026 during the conferment held on September 23, 2026, at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology in Deggendorf, Germany. The recognition follows the announcement of the WURI 2026 rankings on May 7, 2026, where SDCA placed first in the category among 13,211 global entries.

The distinction was awarded for the project Upcycling Fruit and Vegetable Peels into High-Value Food Products, led by Dr. Wendell Galapate, together with project authors Dr. Gregorio Andaman Jr., Dr. Maria Fe Andaman, and Dr. Joel G. Matamis. The formal conferment marks an important milestone for the institution, bringing its research and innovation initiatives to an international platform and highlighting how academic research can be developed into practical and sustainable solutions. For SDCA, the recognition reflects its continuing efforts to strengthen research, innovation, and entrepreneurship while creating work that extends beyond the academic setting and contributes to meaningful real-world applications.
