SDCA Nursing Students Utilize Virtual Reality Simulation in Clinical Training

News Published on: April 28, 2026

St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) has integrated virtual reality (VR) simulation into the training of its Bachelor of Science in Nursing students as part of efforts to enhance clinical learning experiences.

Through the use of Meta Quest devices and the UBSim program, students are exposed to simulated hospital scenarios that replicate real-world healthcare settings. These simulations cover a range of clinical tasks, including patient assessment and critical care decision-making, allowing students to engage in interactive and scenario-based learning.

The training is conducted in collaboration with HCT Academy, which provides guidance in the implementation of the VR-based modules. The program is designed to offer students a controlled environment where they can practice clinical procedures, apply theoretical knowledge, and develop decision-making skills without the risks associated with actual patient care.

The integration of VR technology into nursing education supports the development of practical competencies and confidence among students before their exposure to real clinical settings.
