Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic, St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) successfully celebrated its 17th Founding Anniversary with the theme "Education Beyond Borders" from November 26 - 28, 2020. The event was spearheaded by Ms. Mary Grace G. Demetillo, Director for Student Affairs and Services, with collaborative efforts from Basic Education to Higher Education and the Department of Administrative Support Services.
Throughout the anniversary celebration, a series of academic and non-academic activities were held virtually for the whole Dominican community. Pre-events took place from November 23 to 25, and the opening ceremony occurred on November 26. SDCA also launched an anniversary AVP, showcasing the institution’s perseverance and commitment to providing quality and revolutionized education despite the challenges of the pandemic.

- Dominican All-Star (also a benefit event for families affected by Typhoon Ulysses, raising ?19,214.30 in cash donations via GCash)
Another highlight was the first-ever "Mask is a Must: Face Mask Couture Competition and Exhibition 2020", organized by SIHTM Eventologist Batch 13 students. The competition featured wearable and avant-garde mask designs for special events, with entries displayed at One Asia Heritage from November 26 to 28.
Journalism and Educational Talks:
The celebration also provided an opportunity for aspiring journalists through "Beyond the JOURney", organized by the Dominican Vanguard, SDCA’s official Senior High School student publication. Several schools participated in the online journalism competition held via Zoom on November 27.
Renowned educational content creator Ms. Lyqa Maravilla (a.k.a. "Team Lyqa") and Miss Universe Philippines 2020 - 4th Runner-Up Ms. Kimberly “Billie” Hakenson graced the event. Ms. Maravilla provided valuable insights on study habits during online learning, while Ms. Hakenson, an SDCA alumna, shared her experiences in both education and beauty pageants during an exclusive live interview at the SDCA D.R.A. Hall.
Despite the ongoing challenges, SDCA remains steadfast in its mission to innovate strategies that ensure quality education while fostering holistic student development.
