St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) garnered awards in all categories at the 12th Manila Foods and Beverages Expo (MAFBEX) Young Hoteliers Exposition 2018, with the theme: “Victorian”, held at the World Trade Center from June 13 - 17, 2018.

Competing in their second year, selected students from the School of International, Hospitality, and Tourism Management successfully defended their title in six competition categories:

  • Grand Victorian Bedroom Design Competition
  • Destination Marketing with Souvenir Making Competition
  • Best Coffee Concoction Competition
  • Travel Newscasting Competition
  • Sangria Punch Mixing Competition
  • Chocolate Praline and Truffles with Packaging Competition

SDCA Champions:

  • Victorian Bedroom Design Competition - James Carl Del Mundo, Pauline Pichay, Elisha Joyce Ramos, Giana Ray Barrios, Arah Fannelli Teope, coached by Prof. Melbert V. Animas
  • Sangria Punch Mixing Competition - Hollygain Monterey, Elvin Zaryl Toledo, Dale Dame Rosaceña, mentored by Prof. Melbert V. Animas and Mr. Rolando S. Poblete

Silver Awardees:

  • Travel Newscasting Competition - Patricia Mae Parsacala, Christian Ken Tilaon, mentored by Prof. Argel Dela Cruz and Prof. Agnes G. Azul
  • Best Coffee Concoction Competition - Ma. Pearly Dawn C. Arreza, mentored by Mr. Rolando S. Poblete

The Young Hoteliers’ Exposition (YHE) is a prestigious school-wide event that provides opportunities for future hoteliers and restaurateurs to showcase their skills, potential, and creativity in the culinary arts, hospitality, and tourism industry.
