The BS Nursing batch 2021 of St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) held its 15th Capping, Pinning, and Lighting Ceremony at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Meadowood Executive Village, Bacoor, Cavite, on October 24.

Dr. Gregorio Andaman Jr., SDCA president, advised the 25 nursing sophomores to love the profession they have chosen as they will soon be entering new and bigger responsibilities in their clinical duties.

With this year’s theme: “SDCA NURSES AT THE FOREFRONT: In providing Nursing Care through Service, Dynamism, Competence, and Accountability”, Mr. Emuelle V. Gan, an SDCA alumnus who is now a registered nurse and a certified radiology nurse, highlighted the importance of developing the right attitude towards the nursing profession. He introduced the SDCA formula for success in nursing:

  • S for Service
  • D for Dynamism
  • C for Competence
  • A for Accountability

The capping, pinning, and lighting ceremony is an annual tradition for 2nd-year nursing students. It serves as a symbol of recognition that they have earned and qualified to partake in clinical duties. The students’ efforts are acknowledged through a baccalaureate mass and an affirmation of their commitment to the nursing profession.
