In the wake of the recent earthquake that struck Cebu, St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to compassion and service through Oplan Malasakit for Cebu, a humanitarian initiative led by Dr. Gregorio A. Andaman Jr., President of SDCA and Board Member of the Philippine Red Cross Cavite Chapter. With compassion at the heart of his leadership, Dr. Andaman inspired the SDCA community to unite in bringing help and hope to Cebu.
From October 6 to 11, 2025, SDCA launched a Donation Drive in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross Cavite Chapter under the campaign #DominiCanRespond. Donation boxes were placed at the GD2 Lobby and DSAS Office, welcoming contributions such as bottled water, canned goods, hygiene kits, blankets, and towels. The campaign also accepted cash donations through official QR codes and bank channels. Through the collective effort of students, faculty, and staff, SDCA gathered essential resources to support affected families.
As part of its continuing advocacy for humanitarian action, SDCA also held a Blood Donation Drive on October 6, 2025, in collaboration with the SDCA Dominican Student Emergency Response Volunteers' Society (RCYC), the SDCA Dominican Nursing Student Council, and the Philippine Red Cross Cavite Chapter.
The series of efforts culminated on October 21, 2025, with the official turnover of collected donations to the Philippine Red Cross Cavite Chapter, marking the fulfillment of SDCA’s call to action through Oplan Malasakit for Cebu.
Through the leadership of Dr. Gregorio A. Andaman Jr., whose active role in the Red Cross continues to inspire acts of service within the SDCA community, this initiative stands as a true manifestation of Dominican compassion and solidarity. It reaffirms the college’s enduring mission to serve, to respond, and to bring hope to those in need through the power of collective action.
