St. Dominic College of Asia's (SDCA) Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BA Comm) program proudly showcased its research excellence on an international stage during the 28th Annual Asian Media and Information Communication Centre (AMIC) International Conference. Themed "Science Communication: Managing the Now and the Future," the conference was held on November 20, 27, and December 4, 2021, in Hanoi, Vietnam via Zoom.

For John Kenneth Talania, a fourth-year BA Communication student, the experience was "nerve-racking but ecstatic." He presented their research paper titled "Virtual Senses: Active Cameras in Improving Online Learning Experience of SDCA School of Arts, Sciences, and Education Students." This marked a significant milestone for SDCA’s BA Communication program, proving its capacity to compete in the global academic landscape.

Dr. Ricardson Mojica, BA Communication Program Chair and research adviser, also participated in the conference, presenting his research paper, "Analysis on the Reporting of Suicide Cases on Selected Online News Websites." His involvement further solidified SDCA’s commitment to promoting academic research at an international level.

The Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) is an international, non-profit, non-government organization that serves as a regional research hub for media and communication studies. Participating in such a prestigious event reinforces SDCA’s dedication to fostering global competitiveness among its students and faculty.

Reflecting on his experience, Talania shared, “As I was presenting our paper, I realized that I wasn't just representing SDCA, but also the entire country in a way. I'm not the most intelligent or hardworking student, but I did the best I could.” His achievement serves as an inspiration for fellow communication students and the broader SDCA academic community.

By continuously providing platforms for its students and faculty to engage in international discourse, SDCA reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence and global relevance. This achievement is another testament to the institution’s dedication to producing well-equipped and globally competitive professionals.
