Students from School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (SIHTM) came home after their six-months Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) in Bangkok, Thailand.
In partnership with two of the renowned hotels in Bangkok, the Urbana Hotel and Centara Grand at Central World, 16 Dominicans from SIHTM were able to immerse themselves in a real-life work setting. They have spent six months, with allowance, working to various departments such as Front Office Departments, Food and Beverage Department and Banquet Services.
Days after their arrival in the Philippines, the students had the chance to share their experiences during their lunch with the school president, Dr. Gregorio A. Andaman Jr. Here, they shared how pleased they are of being able to work abroad, “Thailand Internship Program is indeed the most fulfilling part of my life”, says Ashlyne Joyce Olivarez, a Tourism student. Through this program, the students were able to learn different skills and apply their learnings from SDCA. According to Arah Teope, “I was given a chance to show off what I’ve got and what I’ve learned from my school.”
Dominicans are also looking forward for another batch of trainees who will be experiencing the SIAP. Want to be a globally competitive hotelier? Visit us to know more about our programs, enrollment for college is now open.
