Children are vulnerable to diseases and it is a good thingthat SDCA’sstudents annually provide free health assessment at public schools, a practice that fits their future job description—“plans and provides medical and nursing care to patients.”
As part of their community outreach activities, third year students from SDCA’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program conducted an annual Health Assessment for the children attending their chosen beneficiary, LayongMabilog Elementary School,in Maragondon, Cavite.
A total of 102 students from grades 1 to 6 were put under physical assessment. The BSN students found out the top five major health concerns of the children—Poor personal hygiene, poor oral health, head lice, white spots or “an-an”, and scabies or the “Itch mite” were prevalent among the children.
