DSAS hosts first Gawad Excellentia

In line with the theme “Blazing for Excellence,” Saint. Dominic College of Asia launched Gawad Excellentia, an award-giving body recognizing individuals and companies that excel in their respective fields, Nov. 28 at the SDCA grounds.

 


The event has four categories of recipients: alumni, industry partners, parents and media personalities.


Respective deans and program chairs recommended the awardees for the alumni and industry partners while the admission unit recognized Mr. Radzwill and Mrs. Melissa Arizabal for being outstanding parents.


The most outstanding alumni were Joyce M. Aringo (BSED 2014), Christian Jeff V. Torrento (BSED 2011), Winterson C. Ambion (BSPsy 2013), Duane Ibale (BSIT 2013), Mr. Rainer John Panizalez (BSBA 2014), Joel Jose (BSN 2007) and Anthony Reburiano (BSHM 2011).


The most outstanding industry partners for the BSED program were Imus Pilot Elementary School and Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo National High School. BSPsy’s most outstanding partner was the Philippine National Police; Junior Achievement of the Philippines Incorporated for the BSBA; Sykes PH for the BSIT; Ospital ng Muntinlupa for BSN and Belmont Hotel Manila for the BSHM.


After conducting a survey from the Dominicans, different media personalities were recognized.


From the hit teleserye “Ang Probinsyano,” Coco Martin was acknowledged as the Best TV Personality. Ted Failon of “Failon Ngayon” was recognized for the Male News Personality, while Jessica Soho was known as Female News Personality for “State of the Nation.”


Failon and Soho sent their gratitude to the SDCA community through a short video presentation. Present in the event were Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Marita Andaman-Rillo, SDCA President Dr. Gregorio A. Andaman Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Nilda W. Balsicas, school deans, alumni and students.
