BSN Sophies ready for clinical duties

Bachelor of Science in nursing Batch 2019 can now perform clinical duties as they received their caps and pins during the 13th Capping, Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Meadowood Executive Village, Bacoor, Cavite.

With the theme “Unveiling the Future: Building Resilience and Agility of SDCA Nurses in Meeting the Challenges in the Real-World of Nursing Practice” Dr. Naressia Seludo-Ballena, a registered nurse and a doctor in education, reminded the soon-to-be nurses in her inspirational message of what they are dealing with. “Remember, you are dealing with human life, the most precious gift given to us by God. We cannot afford to commit mistakes”, said Dr. Ballena.

She also emphasized the three major skills they have to develop as part of their responsibilities such as competence, extremity and proficiency. Competence:”As nurses, your first responsibility is to become competent. For learning as much as you can, so much you can give quality health care to the sick”; Extremity: “Agility or promptness in the way we asses our patients from head to toe”; and “Of course the other thing, proficiency, the ability to perform.”

This ceremony is annually held intended for level two (second year) BSN students as a symbol of recognition that they earned and qualified to partake in clinical duties. In parallel with that, Dr. Ballena asked the parents for their support and understanding.
