New leaders take their pledge

New sets of officers and members of St. Dominic College of Asia’s accredited student organizations had their Oath Taking Ceremony held at SDCA’s Multi-purpose Hall for this year’s Student Organization Accreditation and Recognition Ceremony, Aug 22.


Present in the said event was Dr. Nilda W. Balsicas, Vice president for Academic Affairs, Mr. Jonathan Velustria Sta. Ana, Director of Student Affairs and Services, Prof. Ronald Tomines, Community Outreach and Extension Officer and Prof. Apolonio Silva, Student Discipline Coordinator.

“It’s not really success that matters in the world because most of those successes don’t really make the people happy.” Dr. Balsicas said during her welcome remarks. She also said that what we need are people who can actually hear people and people who are lovers of people.

“Be an instrument of the core values of St. Dominic. Be an instrument of good deed. Nandito kayo para gumawa ng tama. Nandito kayo para gumawa ng kakaiba” she added. The Oath of Leadership took place followed by awarding of certificates of accreditation.

Dr. Balsicas together with Prof. Silva awarded the certificates of accreditation to the different student organizations startin with the non-academic, academic, and institutional organizations. The presidents of the five Most Accomplished Organizations of the previous academic ear was also present in the event to receive the award of their respective organizations under their term. Ms. Allysa M. Cruz, received the top one most accomplished organization award for LaboratoriumDuces followed by Ms. Ma. KC Lyn Joy Ignacio for Alliance of Future Hospitality Managers, then Mr. Laudimer Hingada for Red Concepts, Ms. Rubielyn Acosta for Global Educators Guild and Ms. Liza M. Mesiona for Dominican Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants.

Then, Prof, Tomines discussed about the upcoming community outreach activities such as the Gawad Kalinga project, tree and mangrove planting to encourage the Dominicans to be more active, more dynamic and to soar high this academic year. The event was hosted by Mr. Rico J. Ramas, CCSC immediate past president. The singing of the SDCA Hymn concluded the ceremony.
